MECHANICAL PRESENTATION BOX

Emerald City Search, Seattle, WA

Jim Dixon, designer, illustrator, fabricator

In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Seattle World Fair, the Emerald City Search contracted me to design and fabricate a Seattle World Fair themed presentation art piece. Through daily clues provided by local media, searchers calculated the location of a medallion hidden somewhere in the city. The medallion housed a key that opened the prize box. At the awards ceremony the searcher, along with the master of ceremonies, simultaneously placed their keys in the locks, turning them to activate a mechanical process that opened the box, revealy the prize.

HBC DEPARTMENT REDESIGN

Bartell Drug, Seattle, WA

HBC redesign included department signage, custom shelving & merchandisers, flooring, and wall treatments. The HBC department was just part of a full store redesign that was utilized across Bartell's full chain of stores. The project was managed by the Hartman Group with Magellan Architects providing architectural services.

Mural - Produce 1.png

I created a series of murals for all the departments for a Haggen Food & Pharmacy redesign in 2011. They were inspired by Pacific Northwest landscape and the hands on, homemade appeal of the "Northwest Fresh" brand.  A bit country, a bit city and a whole lot of charm and character. This specific application was in Ashland, Oregon in 2015.
